 About CYO Camps Minimize

Welcome to the CYO Camps…where we enjoy the great outdoors while meeting new friends and having lots of fun in a caring Catholic environment on the shore of Lake Huron. Both of our camps, the CYO Girls Camp and CYO Boys Camp, are ACA Accredited Camps and have been in operation since 1946. The camps are located six miles a part in Port Sanilac and are open to boys and girls ages 7½ - 17. As traditional camps, the beautiful landscape and sandy beaches are the ideal setting for an incredible summer. Our “Four F’s”…. Faith, Friends, Fun and Frogs (nature) provide an opportunity for our campers to discover a sense of self, an appreciation for others and nature, and to feel the presence of God as we emphasize our Catholic values and actively celebrate our Catholic faith throughout our daily activities. Activities include fun programs that encourage social and recreational skills – archery, arts and crafts, kayaking, animal farm, sleep outs, swimming, campfires, cookouts and outdoor sports.

Rent One Of Our Camps Minimize
The Catholic Youth Organization camps have entered into a joint venture with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul camps, collaboratively called Camps Connect, so that you now have four camps to choose from. We have the right place for your retreat, outdoor education experience, band camp, sports practice camp, family reunion, leadership training…the list goes on! We offer year-round accommodations for up to 70 people and any of our camps can sleep close to, if not more than 200 people from early spring to late fall. Each year, many groups choose CYO and Camps Connect camps because of the fine service the camps have been offering for over 60 years, well-groomed grounds, and comfortable and safe facilities in a unique natural environment. We look forward to the opportunity of serving your group as well. Call the Camps Office for more information 810-622-8744 or check out our website at www.campsconnect.org

Upcoming Events and Voluneer Opportunities Minimize
We have a number of events and volunteer opportunities happening at the camps throughout the year. Listed below you’ll see what we have coming up and if you want more information click on the link located in the Forms and Flyers box on the left. We would love for you to join us for one or all of our upcoming activities.

Penny Challenge – February
During the annual CYO Rainbow Conference, the CYO Camps collect spare change from the participants and have a competition between the four graders and adults to see who can collect the most pennies (positive points) while donating silver/dollars (negative points) for the other graders.  It might sound confusing but it’s a lot of fun. The money raised is used to purchase items for the CYO Camps Work Weekend.

CYO Camps Work Weekend – April
Join us for a day or for the entire weekend! Volunteer your time, gifts and talents to help with the camp clean up and preparation for the summer. Bring a friend, the family – as long as they can work we’ll take the help. Over a 100 teens and adults volunteer each year to make a difference at the camps!

Camp Scrap –A–Lot – April & November
A scrapbooking fundraiser weekend to benefit Camps Connect is held twice a year in April and November. This is a perfect opportunity for those looking to scrapbook and help out the camps. The weekend includes a 5 foot table to scrap, goodie bag, make and take, lodging dorm style, meals, snacks, and lots of fun with friends.

High School Volunteers Needed – July & August
We are always looking for high school volunteer’s ages 16 to 17 to give a week of their summer at one of our camps. This opportunity entails assisting with the daily operations of the Summer Camp Programs. The main responsibility will be meal prep and clean up for all three meals in addition to assisting with the evening programs for the campers. These two areas are major components of our program and we need your help.

Fright Fest – October
Bring the whole family out for our annual haunted forest, games for children, haunted house, sweet treats and a whole lot more. Fright Fest is held the three last Saturdays in October from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. All proceeds benefit Camps Connect

For more information on the above events click on the flyer in the box on the left.
